  1. Adult cardiology – Out-patient clinics, in-hospital admission & care [includes acute coronary care ward, thread mill, Holter monitoring, ECG, ECHO clinic
  2. Paediatric cardiology – Out-patient clinics, in-hospital admission & care, ECHO clinic, Pre and post-op care of Closed and open heart surgeries, Provincial Cardiac screening.
  3. Outreach services – visitation to the provinces and regional centres by both adult and paediatric cardiologists

Catheter laboratory [Cath-lab]procedures:

  1. Angiograms of Coronaries [heart], Cerebral [brain], Renal [Kidney]
  2. Stenting – coronaries,[cerebral and kidneys]
  3. Device closures for defects eg PDAs, ASDs, VSDs
  4. Balloon angioplasty
  5. Electrophysiology studies
  6. Permanent pacemaker insertions

Cardiothoracic Surgery

  1. Outpatient Consultation clinics – both for adults and children
  2. Cardiac Surgery [both adults and Children]:
    1. Open Heart surgery:
      1. paediatric congenital heart disease surgery for defects [ASD & VSDdefect repairs],
      2. Valvular heart disease surgery [valvotomy, valve replacements]
      3. Coronary artery bypass graft surgery
    2. Non Open Heart Surgery:
    3. Pericardiectomy, pericardial stripping/window, tumour excisions, epicardial pacemaker implantation
  3. Permanent Pacemaker insertions – for those with heart blocks [very slow heart rates]
  4. Thoracic Surgery:
    1. Lung and chest wall surgery – thoracotomy, mediastinotomy, pneumonectomy, decortication, tracheal surgery, thymectomy, esophagectomy, neck surgery etc
    2. Thoracoscopy
    3. Vascular trauma surgery etc

Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia:

  1. Anaesthesia for both adult and paediatric cardiac surgery [open and closed heartsurgery]
  2. Anaesthesia for both adult and paediatric chest wall, mediastinum, tracheal & lungsurgery
  3. Anaesthesia for both adult and paediatric cath-lab procedures
  4. Intraoperative Transesophageal Echo during cardiac surgery where needed.

Cardiothoracic Intensive care:

  1. ICU care of cardiac patients – coronary emergencies
  2. Care of Post Cardiothoracic surgery patients
  3. Care of Post Cath-lab complication cases
