The Port Moresby General Hospital provides a wide range of surgical services including paediatrics, orthopaedics, urology, ophthalmology, neurosurgery, cardiac, oral, and maxillofacial surgery.

As a leading example, through Operation Open Heart, a joint venture with the Australian Government, the hospital and its health professionals have provided life-saving heart surgery and post-operative care to dozens of people.

Just this year forty-four children and adults have already received closed or open-heart surgery and post-operative care at Port Moresby General Hospital. This has comprised 19 closed heart cases and 25 open heart cases.
